David G. Edelstein was a senior executive with experience in information technology, corporate governance and operations in the health care industry. He held roles with increasing levels of leadership responsibilities at IBM, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Dade Behring and Siemens.
Edelstein serves on the boards of and advises several commercial and non-profit and organizations. He is a member of the Board of Advisors of Source Digital, LLC and a board member of PurpleSun, Inc. The latter created by an alumnus of the College of Engineering and Computer Science's masters program. Edelstein is a Vice President of the Leelanau Conservancy and a member of the executive committee of i.c.stars, a Chicago-based nonprofit that trains and finds jobs for high school graduates from the inner city of Chicago in information technology and community leadership.
For Syracuse University, Edelstein is the chair of the Dean's Leadership Council for our College of Engineering and Computer Science. He served on the search committees for both the Dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science and the Vice President of Research. Edelstein served on the West Campus District Project ad-hoc work group and led the ad-hoc committee that reviewed the strategic plans for each of the colleges. He is a founding member of the Council of Chairs. Prior to moving to Leland, Edelstein was the chair of the Chicago Regional Council.
For the Board of Trustees, Edelstein is a vice chair and chair of the Academic Affairs Committee. He serves on the Audit and Student Affairs committees and is a member of the Board's Executive Committee.
