The Board of Trustees is the governing body of Syracuse University, responsible for the educational mission and fiscal policies of the University. Members of the Board guide the University toward its goals and vision and serve the public trust. This website is intended to provide information about the Board of Trustees to members of the Syracuse University community.

James Kidder James P. Kidder
James P. Kidder serves as special counsel at O’Melveny & Myers LLP in the health care group and maintains a cross-disciplinary health care practice that includes regulatory counseling, litigation, transactions and investigations for a wide-variety of health care clients. Over the last three years, he has represented multiple managed care companies through government and internal investigations involving compliance with Medicare Advantage regulations.

Tonia M. O’Connor

Tonia M. O’Connor
Tonia O'Connor previously served as president and chief revenue officer for Univision Communications Inc. (UCI), overseeing the company's annual $3 billion revenue portfolio and spearheading the commercial evolution of the company, addressing the impact of disruptive technologies on the traditional media landscape, and creating new business models to capitalize on rapidly shifting market dynamics.

Louise Phanstiel

Louise Phanstiel
Louise Phanstiel is a managing member of Phanstiel Enterprises, LLC, a private California company that provides consulting and investment management. Since retiring in 2007 from her career in the health care industry, Phanstiel has held several board positions in public companies in the health care and biotechnology industries and in not-for-profit organizations. She currently serves on the boards of Myriad Genetics, Inc. (NASDQ), Shenandoah Valley Academy and the Southampton Hospital Association.

Joanna O. Masingila Michael S. Tick
Tick is dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) and a professor of drama. He came to Syracuse University in 2016 after serving six years as dean of the College of Fine Arts at the University of Kentucky and 11 years as the chair of the Department of Theatre at Louisiana State University.

Duncan Brown Jamie Winders
Winders is professor of geography in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. She is best known for her interdisciplinary work on international migration and contributions to geography’s engagements with race, labor and social reproduction.

Jack Wilson

Mirjavad Hashemi
Hashemi is a third-year Ph.D. candidate in the electrical engineering program in the College of Engineering and Computer Science. Hashemi will serve as the Graduate Student Organization president for the 2019-20 academic year.

Emma Peca Mackenzie Mertikas
Mertikas is studying public relations in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and political science in the College of Arts and Sciences and the Maxwell School. Mertikas, who is from New Jersey, will serve as the president of the Student Association for the 2019-20 academic year.

Ghufran Salih Vishwas Paul
Paul is studying economics in the College of Arts and Sciences and the Maxwell School, and minoring in psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences and business in the Whitman School. Paul served as the Judicial Review Board chair for the Student Association during his second year on campus
